Learning Express Library
The library now has access to Learning Express Library, which includes more than 1,000 resources: Patrons can learn about careers and prepare for occupational licensing exams in allied health, civil service, law enforcement, nursing, teaching, and other top fields. There's academic skill building (reading, writing, and math) for youth and adults, including resources in Spanish. College-bound students can practice for Advanced Placement (AP®), college admissions, college placement, and graduate school exams. Patrons also gain access to test prep for the WorkKeys® Assessments and the GED®, HiSET®, and TASC tests, and much more. The resources include interactive tutorials, practice tests and exercises, and more than 200 downloadable eBooks.

Rosetta Stone
The New Jersey State Library has added Rosetta Stone Library Solutions Plus to the suite of statewide database/e-resources offerings for public libraries as of July 1, 2016. This is an effective, easy-to-use program that allows you to learn a new language on your own time.

BasicESL
Basic ESL improves an individual's listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through a simple to follow, and instructionally proven curriculum. Students learn English quickly and effectively on relevant topics including: family, home, school and many other topics. In each lesson students learn key vocabulary and how to use that vocabulary in conversation. No computer experience is necessary. Click on "Instant  Access" to enter without registering.

Free DMV Practice Test
The library presents a free Driver's Education Program from Driving-Tests.org. This site provides free practice tests and more. No log-in required: just click and learn!

Gale Virtual Reference Library provides access to an extensive collection of eBooks in virtually any subject, including health, business, careers, history, literature, biography, science, and many more. Begin your search immediately from the above widget!

Listen NJ
Search for, check out, and download eBooks and/or audiobooks using your library card on E-Library NJ! The New Brunswick Free Public Library has access to eLibrary NJ through the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium. (You will not find NBFPL listed under libraries on this website; you will instead see LMXAC.)

One Click Digital
Download classic books from OneClickDigital! After a quick one-time account set-up process, New Brunswick library cardholders can access 200 Classic e-audiobook titles and 85 Classic e-Book titles using this new library subscription.

Zinio
Download magazines with Zinio! With a library card from any of the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium, you have unlimited simultaneous access to digital magazines that can easily be viewed on most Internet-enabled devices inside or outside of the library. You can browse the complete magazine including full color picture and ads. All for free!

Hoopla
As of June 20, 2016, thousands of movies, television shows, music albums and audiobooks are available for mobile and online access through a new partnership between the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium (LMxAC) and hoopla digital. LMxAC library patrons can download the free hoopla digital mobile app on their Android or IOS device or visit www.lmxac.org/info and select hoopla to begin enjoying thousands of titles available to borrow 24/7, for instant streaming or temporary downloading to their smartphones, tablets, computers, and Apple TV.

Research Databases

The New Brunswick Free Public Library offers a variety of databases for research. Library card holders can access a multitude of materials using their card number. To access a database click on its icon or link. Databases available from home will bring you to a log in page: Enter in the numbers on the back of your library card for access. For those databases that this library subscribes to separately (not those available through JerseyClicks.com) only New Brunswick Free Public Library card numbers can be used for remote access.

Another database provided by the New Jersey State Library, this resource helps you to create resumes and cover letters, learn interviewing techniques, and prepare for related exams. It also provide access to millions of job listings. (See more at NJ Works.)

HeritageQuest Online combines digital, searchable images of U.S. federal census records with the digitized version of the popular UMI Genealogy & Local History collection and other valuable content.

Home News Tribune Digital Microfilm
Access digital images of the Home News Tribune online. Papers from 2010 forward are available. View the QuickStart Guide for help in using this service, or click here to start. (If using it from a computer outside of the library, you will need a New Brunswick Free Public Library Card.)

New Brunswick Daily Times 1871-1916 and Daily Home News 1887, 1889, 1903-1926
Microfilm of these historical New Brunswick newspapers have been digitized and made available online. (Sunday newspapers are currently absent from the database during the period of 5/1916-12/1926. Please contact the library to use microfilms.) Funding in part has been provided by the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission, Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, and the New Jersey Historical Commission/Department of State. The project was also made possible with the permission of The Home News Tribune, and the generous support of the New Brunswick Historical Society.
